Description
A one-man game development studio run from a home office, developing both 2D and 3D games for web, mobile, and desktop gaming.
History
Early historyDrix Studios was founded in 2013, initially named Jujaswe, by Justin Hendrix Villegas while still studying at a university. The company started as a Flash game development company, making games for the web and mobile platforms as a hobby. It's first hit game was called Spy Bear, a 2D physics puzzle shooter published by Arcade Bomb. The game became popular in gaming sites such as Newgrounds and Kongregate and later made it to the Google Play Store, garnering around 50 thousand installs.
Broader HorizonsIn 2015, Justin together with 2 other developers worked together to make their first 3D game for the PC. The game was called CARabaos Must Drive, a cart racing game inspired by Mario Kart. The game eventually won awards in the local Software Festival and received praise from various players and critiques. This paved new opportunities for the company regarding PC gaming.
RecentWith the inevitable decline of Flash, the company needed to switch over to developing either mobile games for Android and iOS or for Steam and desktop games. Justin chose the latter and renamed the studio to Drix Studios in 2016. Now the studio, with the help of some talented artists, is developing 3D story-driven games for PC and consoles.
